Tree of Life

The second-floor gallery presents a curated dialogue between British landscapes and light abstraction through the works of two distinct artists. Born in Santiago, Chile, London-based artist Maria Luisa Hernandez is informed by the New World. Capturing light and its ephemeral edge is the very essence of her award-winning paintings, with each work evolving through a series of layers. “Tree of Life” exemplifies her sentiment that “without light nothing exists.” With its hazy composition and beaming sun rays filling the work, the scene is dismantled to light abstraction.
